Education

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law aimed at improving the Uzbek alphabet based on the Latin script. Existing documents, textbooks and other materials will not need to be replaced immediately.

A total of 53,483 students aged 40 and over are pursuing higher education in Uzbekistan in the 2025/2026 academic year.

How much will it cost applicants who fell just a few points short of the admission threshold to become students?

Now, even graduates from classes where the language of instruction is not Uzbek will have to take the exam in the state language, Uzbek. This was announced by the Minister of Preschool and School Education, Hilola Umarova, on her Telegram channel.

This year, 46,9 percent (345 000) of the applicants who participated in the entrance examination for higher education institutions in Uzbekistan were unable to achieve a score of at least 56,7 points, as reported by the Knowledge Assessment Agency.
