Nearly 27 kg of narcotic drugs seized at the Uzbekistan – Tajikistan border

Reportedly, during a special operation, a citizen of Tajikistan born in 1986 was apprehended while illegally crossing the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan state border. Upon inspection of his bag, officers discovered 14.584 kg of hashish in 15 separate packages, which were seized and documented in accordance with legal procedures. 

Following this, an operation was launched to identify the recipient of the shipment. As a result, a citizen of Fergana region’s Toshloq district, born in 1969, was caught in Bekabad district while receiving the narcotics, with physical evidence secured on the spot. 

In another case, officers of the SSS Fergana regional department, in cooperation with the internal affairs and customs services, conducted a raid during which a resident of Bekabad district, Tashkent region, born in 1992, was detained while attempting to sell 9.467 kg of opium smuggled from a neighboring country. 

During a preliminary investigation, it was established that this lethal shipment had been transported by a Tajik courier through Surkhandarya region, then received by a citizen of Denov district, born in 1994, who carried it to Tashkent region. This individual was also detained following legal procedures. 

In another incident in Kokand city, a Lacetti vehicle traveling along the “Fergana-Kokand” route was stopped and inspected in the presence of witnesses. A citizen of Kokand, born in 1967, was found hiding 1.759 kg of hashish around his waist. 

Additionally, in Fergana city, a Zaporojețs vehicle driven by a 1995-born individual traveling along the “Fergana-Toshloq” route was searched with witnesses present, and 995 grams of hashish were discovered inside the car. 

In total, 26.805 kg of narcotics smuggled from the Republic of Tajikistan were confiscated as material evidence. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against those involved under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigations are currently underway.
