Russian strikes on Ukraine kill four people

More than 4.5 years after Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022, fighting along the front lines has largely stalled.

Moscow has intensified air strikes, hitting economic targets ranging from factories and ports to logistics hubs.

Both sides deny targeting civilians in the conflict.

Ukrainian officials said on September 22 that Moscow simultaneously struck industrial enterprises in the cities of Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad in the southeast of Dnipropetrovsk region.

The region is home to machine-building, steel production, and other major industrial sectors.

Russia attacked four districts with missiles, drones, and artillery, killing four people and wounding six in Dnipro.

According to Ukraine's Air Force, the Russian strike involved an unspecified number of Oniks anti-ship and ballistic missiles, along with four cruise missiles and 212 drones.

Russia's strike on an energy facility cut off power to nearly 100,000 consumers in the northern Chernihiv region.

Ukraine's strikes

Ukraine, in turn, has also intensified its attacks on Russia, targeting major online retail networks and oil refineries.

Ukrainian drones struck civilian infrastructure in Russia's Samara region along the Volga River, killing one person and wounding four.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense units destroyed 297 drones overnight over various regions of the country.
