70% of online shoppers in Uzbekistan have purchased second-hand goods

What should you pay attention to when shopping online?

70% of online shoppers in Uzbekistan have purchased second-hand goods

According to a survey, 70% of people in Uzbekistan who shop online have purchased a second-hand product from a private seller at least once. The findings were published on November 3, 2026.

The survey was conducted by research agency ORO on behalf of resale platform Listee in December 2025. It involved 1,849 respondents aged between 18 and 60 from all regions of Uzbekistan. The research was carried out through an online panel.

Clothing, footwear, bags and electronics were among the most popular categories of second-hand purchases. A total of 27% of respondents said they had purchased clothing, footwear and bags from private sellers, while another 27% reported buying electronic devices.

Construction and renovation materials accounted for 17% of purchases. Children's products and toys represented 16%, large household appliances 15%, small household appliances 14%, and furniture 13%.

Younger consumers show greater interest

Respondents aged 25–34 were the most active group of second-hand shoppers. Among them, 80% had purchased goods from private sellers at least once.

Electronics was the most popular category in this age group, with 39% reporting such purchases.

Consumers aged 45–60 appeared more cautious. Some 38% of respondents in this age category said they had never purchased goods from private sellers.

Security remains a key concern

The survey also examined online shopping security.

According to the findings, 87% of respondents consider reliable personal data protection important. Protection against fraud is a priority for 86%, while 83% consider the possibility of receiving a refund if a seller commits fraud to be important.

However, selling goods online as private individuals is considerably less common than purchasing them. The survey found that only 8% of Uzbekistan's population had independently sold products online during the previous six months. Another 9% said they were willing to try selling goods online within the next year.
