Washington responds to Moscow: US diplomats to remain in Kyiv

According to Rubio, the US State Department assesses the security situation around its diplomatic facilities on a daily basis.

“We will decide for ourselves whether it is safe for them to remain there,” Rubio said.

He noted that Russia had been urging diplomats to leave Kyiv for several months. If the security situation changes and evacuation becomes necessary, the United States will take appropriate measures.

For now, however, Washington does not see a need to evacuate American diplomatic personnel from Kyiv.

Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Ministry called on foreign citizens, including diplomatic mission staff, to leave Kyiv and warned of possible new strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

At the same time, the embassies of several European Union countries said they would continue operating in Kyiv.
