Uzbekistan Returns to the Top of the Chess Olympiad Standings

In the ninth round of the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, the Uzbekistan national team defeated the United States 2.5–1.5 to regain the lead in the tournament standings.

Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Nodirbek Yakubboev secured victories for Uzbekistan. Abdusattorov defeated Fabiano Caruana, while Yakubboev beat Hans Niemann. Javokhir Sindarov lost to Wesley So, while Levon Aronian and Mukhiddin Madaminov drew their games.

Following the victory, Uzbekistan moved into first place with 16 points out of a possible 18. India, Uzbekistan-2 and Armenia have 15 points each.

After nine rounds, the Uzbekistan national team has recorded eight wins and one loss.

In the individual standings, Nodirbek Abdusattorov has scored 7 points from nine games and remains unbeaten in the tournament.

In the 10th round of the Olympiad, Uzbekistan will face Armenia. Two rounds remain before the competition concludes.
