Altman noted that society's concerns about threats such as mass disinformation, cyberattacks, and the loss of control over autonomous systems are entirely natural. He also stated that the creation and development of superintelligent AI requires international monitoring and strict legal regulation. As an example, he cited the international oversight system established over nuclear energy, emphasizing that a similar model could be applied to artificial intelligence as well.

At the same time, the OpenAI chief said it's important not to forget the technology's enormous potential alongside its risks. According to him, with the right approach, artificial intelligence could become humanity's closest helper in processes ranging from treating serious illnesses to fighting global climate change.

Such statements from Altman are not new — he has previously put forward the idea of establishing a special international AI safety body on multiple occasions, comparing it to the experience of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
