Turkish Rapper Lvbel C5 Ordered to Study Turkish Literature

Süleyman Burak Bodur (known by his stage name Lvbel C5) was detained as part of an investigation into the lyrics of the song “Kahpe,” which he performed with Asya Alizade.

He Denied the Charges

During his testimony at the prosecutor’s office, Lvbel C5 denied the charges against him. He said that after learning about the complaints filed against him, he removed the song from all digital platforms.

Responding to questions about expressions related to violence in the song, the artist emphasized that he had written the lyrics as a product of his imagination.

“I write song lyrics by letting my imagination run free. I have no malicious intent behind these words. The lyrics are not about violence; they are simply fictional words intended for young people.”

Bodur stated that the other controversial lyrics in the song belonged to Asya Alizade, with whom he performed the duet, and denied the charges against him.

The prosecutor’s office referred Bodur to the criminal judgeship of peace, seeking his arrest on the charge of “publicly inciting the commission of a crime.”

What Conditions Were Imposed on Him?

Taking into account the evidence in the case and the absence of a risk that the suspect would flee, the court found detention unjustified and rejected the request.

The court ordered judicial supervision measures against Lvbel C5.

Bodur was banned from leaving the country and required to report to a police station and sign in every Monday and Wednesday.

The ruling against the rapper also included a condition requiring him to continue studying Turkish literature. This requirement, imposed as part of the investigation into the song’s lyrics, caused a public stir.
