Kyrgyzstan Sends Diplomatic Note to Russia’s Foreign Ministry

Kyrgyzstan is requesting the return of a Kyrgyz citizen who travelled to Russia after being promised a job, but was allegedly deceived and is now at risk of being sent to war.

Kyrgyzstan Sends Diplomatic Note to Russia’s Foreign Ministry

The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia has sent a diplomatic note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, requesting the prompt return of Kyrgyz citizen Elistan Toktogulov to his homeland.

The move follows reports that a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic ended up in one of the military units on Russian territory as a result of fraudulent actions by unidentified individuals.

The embassy has also appealed to the competent Russian authorities, requesting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the identification of those responsible, and their prosecution in accordance with the law.

Diplomats are maintaining regular contact with Elistan Toktogulov’s relatives. According to the ministry, the situation is under control, and efforts to provide the necessary assistance are ongoing.

The Foreign Ministry urged citizens to carefully review contracts and other agreements before signing them, paying particular attention to their obligations and the legal consequences. The ministry stressed that it would continue to assist in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Kyrgyz citizens abroad.

Fake Job Offer and a Trap

On November 4, relatives of 21-year-old Elistan Toktogulov appealed to the government in Manas, asking for help in bringing him home. According to his brother, Bayastan Kushtarbek uulu, the young man had found a job offer in Russia through Instagram. He was promised employment as a cargo handler, security guard, or auto mechanic, with a monthly salary ranging from 105,000 to 110,000 roubles.

However, after arriving in Russia, it turned out that everything had been a lie. According to his relatives, he is now being pressured under threat to go to the war in Ukraine.

Earlier, we published an article about how more than 20,000 Central Asians had been recruited into the Russian army.
