Embassy Statement: The U.S. and Israel Bear Full Responsibility for All Such Conflicts

On June 13 of this year, Israel launched a military operation called "Rising Lion" against Iran, marking the beginning of escalated tensions between the two nations in the Middle East. The subsequent involvement of the United States further exacerbated the already complex situation.

On June 24, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan held a press conference with local journalists to present the country's official position regarding recent developments.

Mr. Hossein Parvaresh, Chargé d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Uzbekistan, met with journalists. The embassy representative first expressed gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for their support of Iran before outlining the current situation.

"Over the past 10-12 days, we have witnessed massive acts of aggression carried out under the leadership of the Zionist regime's Prime Minister, with direct support from the United States and its allies. These actions represent flagrant violations of international law, legal norms, and particularly the United Nations Charter," stated Mr. Parvaresh.

He noted that while Iran was engaged in negotiations regarding uranium enrichment and sanctions relief, the U.S. conducted bombing campaigns against Iranian territories in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.

The embassy official emphasized that Israel's actions directly contravene international law, particularly constituting a violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.

"Article 51 of the United Nations Charter explicitly recognizes every sovereign state's inherent right to self-defense. Acting in accordance with this article, Iran has exercised its full military capacity to defend itself against this aggression," he explained.

Additionally, the official pointed out that even as Israeli missiles and aircraft were targeting Iranian territory, Iran's Foreign Ministry continued diplomatic negotiations in Geneva with representatives from three European countries, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, and officials from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It was during these very negotiations that the U.S. launched its attack, striking Iran's nuclear energy facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The embassy representative reiterated that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons, noting that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a religious decree prohibiting their development.

"As a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Islamic Republic of Iran maintains its right to peaceful nuclear energy for medical, agricultural, scientific, and industrial applications. We have no plans to relinquish this legitimate right," he affirmed.

Mr. Parvaresh argued that Israel is well aware Iran isn't developing nuclear weapons, suggesting that Tel Aviv uses this pretext to justify its aggression as part of its expansionist "from the Nile to the Euphrates" ideology.

He also criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for underestimating Iran's military capabilities when ordering the attacks, only to later recognize Iran's substantial defensive strength.

"The position of European countries in this crisis is completely illogical. They demand restraint from Iran - the victim of aggression - which is frankly absurd. From this moment forward, Iran holds the United States and the Zionist regime entirely responsible for all consequences of this conflict, regardless of where or in what form they may manifest," declared Mr. Hossein Parvaresh, Chargé d'Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan
