Five new universities to be established in Uzbekistan

According to decisions made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, five new higher education institutions will be established, including Bukhara State Technical University, Namangan State Technical University, Nukus State Technical University, the International University of Turkic States, and "Cyber University."

On January 20 of this year, a presidential decree was issued regarding the establishment of "Cyber University" state university. According to the decree, "Cyber University" will be established as a state university. 

The university’s primary objectives include training personnel in fields such as information security, cybersecurity, digital technologies, digital economy, artificial intelligence-based automated information-analytical systems, robotics, and related sectors. 

It has been noted that for the academic year 2025-2026, 100 state grants will be allocated for full-time bachelor's degree programs at this university. The academic process at the university will begin in September 2025. 

Furthermore, on January 24, a presidential decree was issued regarding the establishment of Bukhara State Technical University. The university will be founded on the basis of the Bukhara Engineering and Technology Institute and the Bukhara Institute of Natural Resource Management. 

The main areas of focus for this university include engineering, manufacturing, food technology, light industry, oil and gas, green energy, architecture and construction, transportation and logistics, agrotechnology, information technologies, and programming. The university will aim to train highly qualified specialists and academic personnel to meet the region’s growing demand for skilled workers. 

Additionally, on the same day, January 24, a presidential decree was signed regarding the establishment of Namangan State Technical University. The university will be based on the Namangan Engineering and Technology Institute, the Namangan Institute of Engineering and Construction, and the Namangan Textile Industry Institute. 

The university will focus on fields such as engineering, construction, textiles, information technology, software development, manufacturing, processing, and services, and will train specialists and academic staff in accordance with the region's demand for qualified professionals. 

A day later, on January 25, a decree was issued regarding the establishment of Nukus State Technical University. The university will be based on the Nukus Mining Institute (part of the Navoi State Mining and Technology University) and the Nukus branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies. 

The primary objective of the university will be to train specialists and academic staff in industrial, technical, and engineering sectors, as well as to provide requalification and skill enhancement programs. 

On the same day, another presidential decree was issued regarding the establishment of the International University of Turkic States in Tashkent. The university’s primary areas of activity will include: 

— Training highly qualified personnel in fields such as engineering, construction, logistics, information technologies, software development, healthcare, agriculture, food industry, and economic and social sectors in accordance with international standards. 

— The development of educational programs in cooperation with foreign institutions, including leading Turkish universities, as well as the implementation of joint educational programs and conducting research. 

This university will be a non-state higher education institution and will operate in accordance with Uzbekistan’s legislation in the education sector.
