According to the announcement, the project aims to support the digitalization of public services and contribute to regional development across the country.

The Government of Uzbekistan is expected to allocate approximately $5.7 million towards the project.

"Key priorities include enhancing spatial data exchange between public authorities and the private sector, completing the creation of cadastral base maps, establishing a register of utility lines, and strengthening the capacity of regional authorities in managing geospatial data. The World Bank is pleased to support this new project, which will help the government achieve success in these areas," said Tatiana Proskuryakova, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia.

The project will be implemented by the Cadastre Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan between 2025 and 2030 and will consist of the following components:

Component 1: Supporting the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) at the central level.
The project will facilitate the integration of the NSDI into Uzbekistan’s digital e-government ecosystem by implementing a series of measures.

Component 2: Strengthening geospatial infrastructure at the regional and urban levels.
The project will improve mapping and geodesy systems at regional and municipal levels and modernize national geodesy and mapping equipment and software. This includes installing 80 new continuously operating reference stations (CORS) to collect GPS data. These measures will improve the accuracy of mapping and land data across the country.

It is worth noting that earlier, the World Bank approved a $100 million concessional loan to modernize Uzbekistan’s electricity grid.
