Reports circulated on social media yesterday, September 16, around 5:30 PM, about a fire breaking out at the "Miran International" hotel, located in the central part of Tashkent. According to reports, the fire occurred at the "Miran International" hotel, which is located in the Mirabad district of Tashkent, where construction work was ongoing. According to the information service of the Tashkent City Department of Emergency Situations, the fire broke out in the roof area of the building.

"Today, October 16, at 5:17 PM, the Tashkent City Department of Emergency Situations received a report about a fire occurring in a building under construction on Shahrisabz Street in the Mirabad district of Tashkent. In response, the fire and rescue team arrived at the scene at 5:24 PM and is currently conducting firefighting operations," stated the preliminary report from the Department of Emergency Situations.

Additionally, the report indicated that officials from the Tashkent City Department of Emergency Situations and the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations had arrived at the scene.

"The process of extinguishing the fire is being directly managed on-site by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General A.Kh. Quldoshev," the report added.

Additionally, the Tashkent City Mayor, Shavkat Umurzakov, along with the leadership of the Interior Ministry, the National Guard, and the Prosecutor's Office, also arrived at the scene.

"The Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Abdulla Quldoshev, Tashkent City Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, and the leadership of the Tashkent City Department of Emergency Situations, the Interior Ministry, the National Guard, and the Prosecutor's Office arrived at the scene promptly and took full control of the firefighting process," stated the report from the mayor's office.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations also reported that a total of 14 crews participated in extinguishing the fire, that the area was surrounded at 6:19 PM, and that the fire was extinguished at 7:16 PM. They confirmed that there were no citizens injured or fatalities as a result of the fire.

"In order to extinguish the fire that broke out in the roof area of the 'Miran International' hotel, 14 fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene at 5:24 PM. The fire was surrounded at 6:19 PM and extinguished at 7:16 PM. There were no reports of citizens injured or fatalities as a result of the fire," stated the final report from the Department of Emergency Situations.

According to the information provided above regarding the fire, the incident occurred solely in the roof area of the 'Miran International' hotel. The fire did not spread to the nearby 'National Bank' building.

For reference, two years ago, in 2022, the international hotel group "Accor" announced plans to open three new premium hotels in Uzbekistan. One of them was reported to open under the "Swissôtel Tashkent" brand following reconstruction at the "Miran International" hotel site. The renovation work was scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2023, with the hotel set to begin operations. However, reconstruction efforts are still ongoing in the building.

It is worth noting that on October 1 of this year, a fire also broke out in the building of Tashkent State Agrarian University. However, neither the regional governor nor the Minister of Emergency Situations, Major General Abdulla Quldoshev, were present on-site to monitor the fire.
